SDR F.C were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after Nordestão Futebol Clube's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Emerson Lago took the corner. After taking down the ball on SDR F.C's corner Emerson Lago fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Gil Carioca quite easily take care of the ball. If Roger Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 32 minutes into the game, SDR F.C's Inácio Neves nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gil Carioca made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 39 minutes into the game, Naldo Pires was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SDR F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nordestão Futebol Clube the free kick. Naldo Pires kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. After the first half SDR F.C were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Inácio Neves to strike the kick off in the second half. When Antônio Tinoco fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nordestão Futebol Clube's protests and gave Antônio Tinoco a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SDR F.C booed when Nordestão Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antônio Tinoco didn't get a good kick on the ball.
