Túlio Cruz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 38 minutes into the match, Torquimetro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Denílson Cunha came free, but Túlio Cruz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 39 minutes, Jaime Alagoano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Torquimetro FC and the HELVETIA players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jaime Alagoano kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Denílson Cunha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Túlio Cruz made a huge save. Túlio Cruz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sílvio Luís Melo in the 42nd minute of play. If Denílson Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Torquimetro FC's Franklin Velloso got a free kick in the 47th minute. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luís Fernando Vergílio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
