The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The crowd rose to their feet as Smashing PumpkinS's Adriano Monteiro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marcinho Motta. That made the score 1-0 after 10 minutes of play. The goalkeeper, Marcinho Motta, was totally fooled by Smashing PumpkinS's Luís Paulo Fonseca, who 16 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Paratiji's Marcinho Motta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adriano Monteiro in the 21st minute of play. Luís Paulo Fonseca scored 3-0 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcinho Motta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 43 minutes, Válbson Alves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Smashing PumpkinS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Válbson Alves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
