José de Brito didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Amado Bañados went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 90th minute Tobias Tham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar-Alfredo van der Sar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Didi Almeida struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Oscar-Alfredo van der Sar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Criciúma. José de Brito made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Amado Bañados sent off a good shot on target. When the referee ended the match the Criciúma players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
