After 27 minutes, Betão Oliveira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Criciúma and the Laions FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 27 played minutes Criciúma got a freekick which was hit by Betão Oliveira. 29 minutes into the match, Criciúma's goal looked a bit too open when Frédson Abraão came free, but José de Brito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lino Rezende charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
