The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lúcio de Azevedo ran back to his position shaking his head. Lúcio de Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Hortêncio de Moraes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lúcio de Azevedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tacaia SC's Hortêncio de Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enio Prestes in the 41st minute of play. Hortêncio de Moraes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enio Prestes, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dida Veloso to make the kick off. Tacaia SC's Elói Terra got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Wanderson Donatello's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulão Fontes was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. In the 63rd minute Elói Terra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulão Fontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Soberano FC's goalkeeper Paulão Fontes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Paulão Fontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 72 minutes into the match, Wanderson Donatello notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Soberano FC's Paulão Fontes. Paulão Fontes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Tacaia SC's Dida Veloso got a free kick in the 79th minute.
