After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Cristián Montes managed to get in a good position for a shot. IPANEMA FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristián Montes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zé Paulo do Nascimento breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 18th minute, Cristián Montes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Zé Paulo do Nascimento. The goal made the score 1-0. In the 23rd match minute, IPANEMA FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dida Bezerra to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reynaldo Vinhas in the 25th minute of play forced IPANEMA FC's goalkeeper Henrique França to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Henrique França showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cafu Couto, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 30 minutes into the match, IPANEMA FC's goal looked a bit too open when Reynaldo Vinhas came free, but Henrique França reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Henrique França stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cafu Couto's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Reynaldo Vinhas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Henrique França tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 42nd minute of the match Bruno Leal completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Bruno Leal a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 43rd match minute, IPANEMA FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruno Leal to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of SC CORINGÃO booed when IPANEMA FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elliot Lind didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cafu Couto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, SC CORINGÃO's Cafu Couto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Henrique França made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Cafu Couto came free with the goalkeeper in the 53rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Henrique França could save by the left post. When Emanuel Freire fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC CORINGÃO's protests and gave Emanuel Freire a yellow card for diving instead. After 58 played minutes SC CORINGÃO got a freekick which was hit by Emanuel Freire. In the 59th minute, Cristián Montes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Paulo do Nascimento was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. If Cristián Montes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cafu Couto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Henrique França tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. IPANEMA FC's Henrique França played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Vinhas in the 84th minute of play. Reynaldo Vinhas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henrique França having to interfere. Henrique França made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cafu Couto in the 91st minute. Henrique França was out of position in the 92 minute of play, and Nuno Souto capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Nuno Souto really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
