The crowd rose to their feet as Célio Cardoso kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sebastião Faria. That made the score 3-0 in the 24 minute of play. Sebastião Faria was out of position in the 27 minute of play, and Enio Pitta capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Enio Pitta really showed his touch with that goal: 4-0. Célio Cardoso in the 31stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Sebastião Faria, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 35th minute Enio Pitta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastião Faria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 37 minutes into the match, CORINTHIANS's Ramón Chaves sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Andrézinho Melo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Célio Cardoso got free with Sebastião Faria in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enio Pitta in the 41st minute of play forced CORINTHIANS's goalkeeper Sebastião Faria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sebastião Faria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Célio Cardoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Tony Marquez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sebastião Faria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Célio Cardoso in the 92nd minute of the match. Tigres SC were awarded a corner in the 94th minute after CORINTHIANS's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ubaldo Matildo Cambuquira took the corner.
