The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Luís Paulo Linares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gilmar Pirani read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. In the 9th minute, Everton Ribeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Mané Vargas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Carlos Fernando Martins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Gilmar Pirani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20th match minute, Xodó da Vovó A.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Everton Ribeiro to maneuver through the defense. Nelson Ramos got a throw-in 23 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Dadá Netto. After recieving a nice pass, Galaticos's Guga Almeida tried to score from far away in the 27th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 32nd match minute, Galaticos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Túlio Botelho to maneuver through the defense. Francisco Pirani made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Everton Ribeiro in the 33rd minute of play. When Zézinho Urbano came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Xodó da Vovó A.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zézinho Urbano couldn't finish the play. Vágner Campidelis kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mané Vargas in the 38th minute of play forced Xodó da Vovó A.C.'s goalkeeper Gilmar Pirani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Xodó da Vovó A.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Guga Almeida was slow to take the kick. During this time Galaticos's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Galaticos's Luís Paulo Linares getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Mané Vargas got free with Gilmar Pirani in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dadá Netto's late challenge caught a Galaticos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dadá Netto helped the player get up and apologised. Dadá Netto hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Carlos Fernando Martins blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gilmar Pirani having to make a save. Luís Paulo Linares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Gilmar Pirani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute, Túlio Botelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 64th minute of the game Alan de Carvalho made a throw-in which Guga Almeida played forward. If Luís Paulo Linares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Galaticos's Túlio Botelho got a free kick in the 76th minute. Luís Paulo Linares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilmar Pirani having to interfere. In the 85th minute of the match, Carlos Fernando Martins tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gilmar Pirani saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The supporters of Galaticos booed when Xodó da Vovó A.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dadá Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 89 played minutes, Xodó da Vovó A.C.'s Vágner Campidelis shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Francisco Pirani came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Xodó da Vovó A.C. reached it. Nelson Ramos hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Isaltino de Amorim during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Xodó da Vovó A.C. getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Isaltino de Amorim hit a great ball. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 93rd minute, when Galaticos's Guga Almeida after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Gilmar Pirani in Xodó da Vovó A.C.'s goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch.
