The audience thought a goal was coming when Emerson Braga got free with Danilo de Azevedo in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 25th minute Caetano Simões shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júnior Donato saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 30 minutes, Caetano Simões made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Almesca's Júnior Donato tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, SC Duque de Caxias's Danilo de Azevedo got control of the ball when Luís Paulo Linares tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luís Paulo Linares's late challenge caught a SC Duque de Caxias's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luís Paulo Linares helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SC Duque de Caxias booed when Almesca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Paulo Linares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Júnior Donato made an important save on a dangerous shot by Caetano Simões in the 68th minute. In the 86th minute Emerson Braga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danilo de Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90th match minute, Almesca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Paulo Linares to maneuver through the defense.
