The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wanderson Arce during the 2nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 2 played minutes Lona got a freekick which was hit by Wanderson Arce. 7 minutes into the match, Fernão Nunes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Francisco Pirani, 1-0. Francisco Pirani took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorival de Sena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Fernando Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lona's Nicolas Rosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Paulo Linares in the 24th minute of play. Francisco Pirani made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fernão Nunes in the 26th minute. A collision led to Lona getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Wanderson Arce hit a great ball. In the 32nd minute, Duda Alcântara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Carlos Fernando Martins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galaticos's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Fernando Martins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicolas Rosa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fernão Nunes hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Carlos Fernando Martins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Nicolas Rosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 47 minutes into the match, Carlos Fernando Martins had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nicolas Rosa. Lona's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carlos Fernando Martins was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

A collision led to Lona getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Tomás Rezende hit a great ball. After having played for 58 minutes, Guga Almeida managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galaticos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guga Almeida was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Francisco Pirani showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filipe da Mata in the 60th minute of the match. Duda Alcântara's late challenge caught a Lona's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Duda Alcântara helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Galaticos's Duda Alcântara got a free kick in the 64th minute. 65 minutes into the match, Lona's Raimundo Matos broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 66th minute, Dorival de Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fernão Nunes's late challenge caught a Galaticos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fernão Nunes helped the player get up and apologised. Fernão Nunes kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Galaticos's Francisco Pirani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wanderson Arce in the 69th minute of play. Francisco Pirani showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorival de Sena in the 71st minute of the match. Francisco Pirani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filipe da Mata, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Duda Alcântara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Galaticos's Francisco Pirani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernão Nunes in the 83rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vânderson Santana in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nicolas Rosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Raimundo Matos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 87th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Francisco Pirani. Galaticos's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 90 minutes into the match, Fernão Nunes notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Galaticos's Francisco Pirani. Francisco Pirani was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 94 minutes into the match, Galaticos's goal looked a bit too open when Wanderson Arce came free, but Francisco Pirani reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Galaticos's Vânderson Santana got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luís Paulo Linares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Rosa having to interfere.
