Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Aílton Gaspar started the match with the kick off. Augusto do Vale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Dário Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aílton Gaspar might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Robustiano Seme. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aílton Gaspar ran back to his position shaking his head. After 15 played minutes Giant Killing United got a freekick which was hit by Mário Urbano. When Club Athletico Paranaense's Augusto do Vale in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Giant Killing United's goalie prevented a goal. If Leigh Bayne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dário Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto do Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Sidney de Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dário Nascimento having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Augusto do Vale put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Dário Nascimento. Dário Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Augusto do Vale in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd minute Augusto do Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dário Nascimento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Giant Killing United getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Pedro de Amaral hit a great ball. Augusto do Vale took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dário Nascimento. Dário Nascimento dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sidney de Salles stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dário Nascimento made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Jaime Furtado sent off a good shot on target. Augusto do Vale came free with the goalkeeper in the 53rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dário Nascimento could save by the left post. The supporters of Club Athletico Paranaense booed when Giant Killing United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mário Urbano didn't get a good kick on the ball. 62 minutes into the match, Sidney de Salles dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Dário Nascimento, 0-4. Mário Urbano struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Robustiano Seme didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Giant Killing United. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Sidney de Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Athletico Paranaense's supporters rose to their feet, but Sidney de Salles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dário Nascimento breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aílton Gaspar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aílton Gaspar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robustiano Seme read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Aílton Gaspar took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Robustiano Seme. Robustiano Seme dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Norberto Carioca kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match.
