When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Genílson Barral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erik Pitta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Luisão Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. GRASSHOPPERS F.C's Claudinho Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimir Barros in the 62nd minute of play. Jeremias de Castro charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeremias de Castro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 66 played minutes Rastro Sertanejo F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Vânderson Catarinense. GRASSHOPPERS F.C's Pedrão Motta got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 72 minutes into the game, Elder Andrade was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GRASSHOPPERS F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rastro Sertanejo F.C. the free kick. The supporters of Rastro Sertanejo F.C. booed when GRASSHOPPERS F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elder Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Pedro Augusto Godoi the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of GRASSHOPPERS F.C protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Pedro Augusto Godoi had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 96 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for GRASSHOPPERS F.C! Vladimir Barros walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. GRASSHOPPERS F.C's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
