But to his dismay, Marcos Arruda quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Sílvio Siqueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Romeu Velasco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcos Arruda to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes Curva de Rio got a freekick which was hit by Falcão da Rocha. Romeu Velasco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of João Carlos Jacinto's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. After a rather tough play, Curva de Rio's Dadá Secco got a free kick in the 55th minute. Sílvio Siqueira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Romeu Velasco having to make a save. If João Carlos Jacinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute, Sílvio Siqueira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Romeu Velasco was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. João Carlos Jacinto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Romeu Velasco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Carlos Jacinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
