The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute Wilton de Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dário Palmeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Geovânio Mendonça showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Pedro Luís Galvão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geovânio Mendonça having to interfere. Geovânio Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Vítor Senna in the 10th minute of play. Geovânio Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guto Gomes in the 20th minute of the match. The supporters of Chiniqua booed when MaconhaFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Luís Galvão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcel Matorin's late challenge caught a Chiniqua's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcel Matorin helped the player get up and apologised. Dário Palmeira didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 33rd minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. After some careless play in the Chiniqua defense, Guto Gomes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Geovânio Mendonça. The Chiniqua fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Geovânio Mendonça should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Chiniqua's zone, Manfredo Nóbrega stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geovânio Mendonça came out of the goal and Manfredo Nóbrega tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Manfredo Nóbrega sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Guto Gomes to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, MaconhaFC's goal looked a bit too open when André Maia came free, but Dário Palmeira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dário Palmeira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Ortiz in the 60th minute of play. After 61 played minutes Chiniqua got a freekick which was hit by Wilton de Barros. Geovânio Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Luís Galvão in the 64th minute of play. If André Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The throw-in from Delfim Maranhense in the 74th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by MaconhaFC's Pedro Luís Galvão. When MaconhaFC's Guto Gomes in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chiniqua's goalie prevented a goal. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Manfredo Nóbrega put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Geovânio Mendonça. MaconhaFC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
