After a defensive mix-up in Alieninjas's zone, Bruninho Pimenta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rodolfo Matos came out of the goal and Bruninho Pimenta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Umberto Travassos got free with Clóvis Talló in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rodolfo Matos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruninho Pimenta, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. 42 minutes into the match, Santo André FC's goalkeeper Clóvis Talló had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Umberto Travassos. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
