With his leg Tião França managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's Wanderson Rossi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Dorival Severo's late challenge caught a ASS. ESPORTIVO SAPIRANGA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dorival Severo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 24th match minute, Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorival Severo to maneuver through the defense. Telmo Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guilherme Marques in the 26th minute of play. Marcel Camargo hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Wanderson Rossi received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tião França came out and tried to block the shot, but Wanderson Rossi slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 32nd minute. Tião França made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Wanderson Rossi sent off a good shot on target. After 41 minutes of play, Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's Wanderson Rossi made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tião França was left in no man's land by his defense there! Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's Ezequiel Costa shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 44th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Tião França but with some difficulty. The long shot by Ezequiel Costa in the 46th minute really tested Tião França's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wanderson Rossi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Renatinho Ortiz in the 84th minute of play forced Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's goalkeeper Telmo Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES fans' excitement grew in the 87th match minute when Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's Wanderson Rossi looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal.
