Carlos Mesquita's late challenge caught a União Cedrense FSCMZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlos Mesquita helped the player get up and apologised. In the 16th minute, José Valladares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Porto Seguro F.C's Luiz Eduardo Machado got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rubens Santos took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dedé Cavalcante. Dedé Cavalcante dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. With an all-out effort, União Cedrense FSCMZ's Dedé Cavalcante threw himself towards the right post 36 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luiz Fernando Meira, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 38 played minutes Porto Seguro F.C got a freekick which was hit by Elivélton Antunes. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and João Pedro de Amorim made a kick off. Dedé Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Fernando Meira in the 63rd minute of the match. When Rodrigo Corrêa fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Porto Seguro F.C's protests and gave Rodrigo Corrêa a yellow card for diving instead. Rodrigo Corrêa hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Rubens Santos struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Dedé Cavalcante didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for União Cedrense FSCMZ. In the 76thth minute of the game Rubens Santos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Porto Seguro F.C's Dedé Cavalcante was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Rubens Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Dedé Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dedé Cavalcante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fernando Meira in the 80th minute of play. Luiz Eduardo Machado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. João Pedro de Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Delfim Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gil Reis hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. When João Pedro de Amorim came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Porto Seguro F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Pedro de Amorim couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Luiz Fernando Meira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dedé Cavalcante was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. Porto Seguro F.C's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
