Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 10 minutes into the game, Nelson Fernandes recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benê Medeiros. Nelson Fernandes showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Nelson Fernandes scored 2-1 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benê Medeiros, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Evaristo Neiva's late challenge caught a Maracachita SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Evaristo Neiva helped the player get up and apologised. In the 23rd minute, Evaristo Neiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Tony da Fonseca came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Leucadia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tony da Fonseca couldn't finish the play. Raúl Gonçalves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zeca do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zeca do Nascimento in the 32nd minute of play forced Maracachita SS's goalkeeper Raúl Gonçalves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Leucadia getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Luís Britto hit a great ball. After 36 played minutes Leucadia got a freekick which was hit by Luís Britto. Olavo Barros struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Benê Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maracachita SS. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zeca do Nascimento in the 47th minute of play forced Maracachita SS's goalkeeper Raúl Gonçalves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nelson Fernandes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. During the 51st minute of the match Luís Britto completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Luís Britto a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 85th minute, Abelardo Saldanha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cacá Guerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benê Medeiros having to interfere. In the 91st minute, Abelardo Saldanha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 93 minutes into the match, Maracachita SS's goalkeeper Raúl Gonçalves had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tony da Fonseca. Chiquinho Santana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benê Medeiros having to interfere. Maracachita SS walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
