Luís Fernando Barreto succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 12th playminute. If Hamílton Cordeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 22nd minute, David Nascimento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 26 minutes into the match, Quixaba Futebol clube's Hamílton Cordeiro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Breno Freire narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Quixaba Futebol clube's zone, Luís Fernando Barreto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcinho Saldanha came out of the goal and Luís Fernando Barreto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcinho Saldanha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nilton Sampaio, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. In the 45th minute, Gino Branco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Afonso Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. Marcinho Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricardinho Sergipano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Breno Freire having to interfere. Breno Freire made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hamílton Cordeiro in the 81st minute of play. Hamílton Cordeiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Breno Freire read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. The supporters of Quixaba Futebol clube booed when Sporting Malvinas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonas Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball.
