The supporters of ABC RN booed when Bolota FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcinho Marquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 6th minute of the match Luís Gustavo Vieira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Reinaldo Mota showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Evaristo Toscano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Evaristo Toscano in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edson Maciel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Duda Couto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 17 minutes into the match, ABC RN's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Paulo Dias came free, but Edson Maciel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 17 played minutes ABC RN got a freekick which was hit by Adelino Marinho. Edson Maciel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luizinho Linhares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Luizinho Linhares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edson Maciel was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Duda Couto made a kick off. Edson Maciel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duda Couto in the 55th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the game, Antônio de Godoi recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Edson Maciel. Antônio de Godoi showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Through an outstanding action, after 60 minutes, Edson Maciel successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Reinaldo Mota made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Maria Rocha in the 62nd minute of play. A hard shot 71 in the game by Luiz Paulo Dias from a close distance when the talented Edson Maciel managed to make a qualified save. ABC RN's players were relieved. Duda Couto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Edson Maciel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luiz Paulo Diass short, quick shot in the 78thth minute got Edson Maciel to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Edson Maciel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Paulo Dias in the 79th minute. In the 83rd minute Doriva Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reinaldo Mota saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Doriva Paraense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Haroldo da Silva kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Bolota FC's Reinaldo Mota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Przemyslaw Ankiewicz in the 88th minute of play. Luiz Paulo Dias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Edson Maciel made a huge save. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Bolota FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
