Pål Rudkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelson de Queiroz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 21 minutes into the match, Pirajiba's goalkeeper Basílio Cosme had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edinho Prata. Edinho Prata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Basílio Cosme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, Nome do Time's goal looked a bit too open when Nelson de Queiroz came free, but Pål Rudkvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Nome do Time's zone, Jairo Santana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pål Rudkvist came out of the goal and Jairo Santana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nelson de Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pål Rudkvist having to interfere. Pål Rudkvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jairo Santana in the 33rd minute of the match. A throw-in in the 34th minute of the game was made by Frederico Munhoz with Ahmed Chipo as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. If Nelson de Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 38 played minutes Pirajiba got a freekick which was hit by Luisinho Alcântara. Pirajiba's Nelson de Queiroz got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Nome do Time's Gilvan de Toledo got a free kick in the 42nd minute. After having played for 47 minutes, Nelson de Queiroz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pirajiba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelson de Queiroz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Nelson de Queiroz made the kick off in the second half. Nome do Time's Pål Rudkvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelson de Queiroz in the 57th minute of play. Pirajiba's Sydney Cearense suffered a sore thigh after 57 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 57 minutes into the game, Luiz Guilherme Meireles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nome do Time's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pirajiba the free kick. The supporters of Pirajiba booed when Nome do Time was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tony Donato didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nelson de Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Pål Rudkvist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luiz Guilherme Meireles kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. After 71 played minutes Nome do Time got a freekick which was hit by Edinho Prata. Pirajiba's supporters rose to their feet, but Natanael Couto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pål Rudkvist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edinho Prata hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. 90 minutes into the match, Nome do Time's goal looked a bit too open when Nelson de Queiroz came free, but Pål Rudkvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Despite being the better team, Pirajiba failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
