The Alberto Pires was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After 9 played minutes Aiuaba got a freekick which was hit by Rafa de Moraes. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lúcio Messias in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulo Renato de Souza saved Aiuaba from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Aiuaba's zone, Lúcio Messias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Renato de Souza came out of the goal and Lúcio Messias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Valdir Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alberto Pires came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Aiuaba's Tomás Siqueira. But to his dismay, Tomás Siqueira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Alberto Pires made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Valdir Lira sent off a good shot on target. Matías Alcântara's late challenge caught a Aiuaba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Matías Alcântara helped the player get up and apologised. Matías Alcântara kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Tomás Siqueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Paulo Renato de Souza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lúcio Messias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lúcio Messias blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paulo Renato de Souza having to make a save. After some careless play in the Aiuaba defense, Lúcio Messias kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paulo Renato de Souza. The Aiuaba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulo Renato de Souza should have stopped the shot. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Simão Gaúcho hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Rafa de Moraes, 53 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Aiuaba's Paulo Renato de Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lúcio Messias in the 58th minute of play. Erik Morenos short, quick shot in the 60thth minute got Paulo Renato de Souza to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to Aiuaba getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Marquinhos de Andrade hit a great ball. Lúcio Messias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Renato de Souza having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Lúcio Messias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Taguarussu SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Lúcio Messias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulo Renato de Souza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 77th match minute, Taguarussu SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matías Alcântara to maneuver through the defense. 86 minutes into the game, Bebeto Arantes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Taguarussu SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Aiuaba the free kick. Aiuaba's Tomás Siqueira got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
