Davi's Jonathan Carvalho got his second yellow card of the match in the 24th minute. The referee ordered Jonathan Carvalho off the ground. A collision led to Davi getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Jonathan Carvalho hit a great ball. José Maria Toledo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Passos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulo Porto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristian Passos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Maria Toledo having to interfere. Paulo Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cléber Trevisan having to interfere. 38 minutes into the game, Emílio Vergílio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Davi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deportivo Cali the free kick. After 38 played minutes Davi got a freekick which was hit by Emílio Vergílio. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Vítor de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo Cali's supporters rose to their feet, but Vítor de Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cléber Trevisan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Cléber Trevisan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Porto in the 92nd minute of the match. Deportivo Cali's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
