Basílio da Fonseca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roberto Maia in the 28th minute. If Romeu Pernambucano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Durval Antunes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Xuripa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Roberto Maia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0.
