In the 27th minute Enrique Baiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexandre Cordeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 28 played minutes, COLUMBUS CREW BR's Thomás Bezerra shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alexandre Cordeiro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in COLUMBUS CREW BR reached it. In the 30th minute of the match Thomás Bezerra sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alexandre Cordeiro skillfully saved the ball. Orico's Elói Perez got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mário Matos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Naldo da Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Orico's Elói Perez got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Celso Zanette struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Alexandre Cordeiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for COLUMBUS CREW BR. Alexandre Cordeiro came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by COLUMBUS CREW BR's Enrique Baiano. But to his dismay, Enrique Baiano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. With a little luck, Orico's Alexandre Cordeiro got control of the ball when Celso Zanette tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sandrinho Capixaba's late challenge caught a COLUMBUS CREW BR's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sandrinho Capixaba helped the player get up and apologised. Sandrinho Capixaba hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Alexandre Cordeiro acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 65th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Thomás Bezerra. Elói Perez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Orico's Alexandre Cordeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Baiano in the 73rd minute of play. 0-2 became the score in the 74th minute when Enrique Baiano elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Thanks to some nice moves Celso Zanette could shoot a difficult shot in the 81st minute, which Alexandre Cordeiro however easily saved by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in COLUMBUS CREW BR's zone, Elói Perez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mário Matos came out of the goal and Elói Perez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alexandre Cordeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enrique Baiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alexandre Cordeiro was out of position in the 94 minute of play, and Celso Zanette capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Celso Zanette really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. COLUMBUS CREW BR's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
