Erik Gaspar charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Erik Gaspar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Manaus FC's Alexandre Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco da Costa in the 23rd minute of play. In the 28th match minute, Manaus FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolas Travassos to maneuver through the defense. Alexandre Toledo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Tróia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Guilherme Vieira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Gernando Madureira came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Sputnik FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gernando Madureira couldn't finish the play. In the 46th minute of the match Zé Carlos de Brito sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alexandre Toledo skillfully saved the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
