The supporters of Parahyba booed when E.C. Paulistão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Vítor Valladares didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute Falcão de Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnaldo Catarinense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 68th minute, Dráusio Loureiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match clock showed 71 minutes, the score became 0-6 when Luís Paiva sped through Parahyba's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ademar Antunes. E.C. Paulistão's Arnaldo Catarinense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teodoro Valladares in the 76th minute of play. 83 minutes into the match, E.C. Paulistão's goal looked a bit too open when Falcão de Senna came free, but Arnaldo Catarinense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ademar Antunes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Paiva in the 84th minute. The E.C. Paulistão supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing E.C. Paulistão would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
