The crowd rose to their feet as Xerife FC's Benê de Sousa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Geraldo Couto. That made the score 1-0 after 4 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, Xerife FC's Pedrinho Berger got a free kick in the 8th minute. Rodriguinho Rocha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lino Pirani having to make a save. Adelino Soeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adelino Soeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 17th match minute, Xerife FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adelino Soeiro to maneuver through the defense. César Ramos charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed César Ramos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. César Ramos kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Maximo Ortzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geraldo Couto having to interfere. The supporters of Tucumduba booed when Xerife FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedrinho Berger didn't get a good kick on the ball. 33 minutes into the match, Xerife FC's goal looked a bit too open when Christian de Lara came free, but Lino Pirani reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lino Pirani stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Christian de Lara's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. After having played for 35 minutes, Benê de Sousa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Xerife FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benê de Sousa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 35th minute, Márcio Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Benê de Sousa came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Xerife FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benê de Sousa couldn't finish the play. João Terry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geraldo Couto having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Xerife FC's zone, Tony Bezerra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lino Pirani came out of the goal and Tony Bezerra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Benê de Sousa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pedrinho Berger hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. 63 minutes into the game, Xerife FC's Benê de Sousa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Geraldo Couto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. If Rodriguinho Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 75 minutes of play Xerife FC's Adelino Soeiro was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Maximo Ortzi fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 84th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. Xerife FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
