The audience held their breath when João Adolfo Loureiro in the 10th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Luís Paulo Toscano's left hand side. Sílvio Luiz Leão struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Nicolas Mota didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for 4X4. In the 21st minute, Emerson Paraibano had to leave the field with a concussion. Cléber Rocha charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cléber Rocha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 4X4's Celso Coutinho was substituted for Emerson Paraibano. After 23 played minutes Rio de Janeiro F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Cléber Rocha. Nicolas Mota showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raí Vianna, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Sílvio Luiz Leão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Nicolas Mota tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Paulo Toscano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgílio Montenegro in the 43rd minute of play. In the 43rd minute, Amadeu Maia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 46th minute Virgílio Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Paulo Toscano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The 4X4 players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Rio de Janeiro F.C. were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fiori Machado made a kick off. Ernesto Bertassi hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 53rd minute of the match Sílvio Luiz Leão shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nicolas Mota showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Sílvio Luiz Leão blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nicolas Mota having to make a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Amadeu Maia during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Rio de Janeiro F.C. booed when 4X4 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fabiano Jacinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Virgílio Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Rio de Janeiro F.C. fans jumped to their feet.
