After having played for 92 minutes, Emílio Quintal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Flamengo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emílio Quintal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Emílio Quintal came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emílio Quintal couldn't finish the play. The Flamengo manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Biruleibe FC to win.
