An unexpectedly hard shot by Sydney Rosa in the 8th minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper Tiaguinho Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 9 minutes, Robinho Souto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Flamengo and the Catone players grew even worse after the yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sydney Rosa in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tiaguinho Goiano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sydney Rosa succeeded in the game's 16th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-3. If Edmílson Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 20th minute, Chris Angel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Adelino Lizardi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd minute, Caco Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Caco Duarte fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Flamengo's protests and gave Caco Duarte a yellow card for diving instead. Caco Duarte kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Augusto Bezerra's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tiaguinho Goiano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. After 26 minutes of play, Catone's Edmílson Neves made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tiaguinho Goiano was left in no man's land by his defense there! Caco Duarte hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute, Augusto Bezerra sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Flamengo's Tiaguinho Goiano didn't even have to move. Tiaguinho Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmílson Neves, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. When Luciano Magalhães came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Catone fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luciano Magalhães couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sydney Rosa made a kick off. When the match clock showed 56 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Sydney Rosa sped through Flamengo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tiaguinho Goiano. 60 minutes into the match, Flamengo's goal looked a bit too open when Edmílson Neves came free, but Tiaguinho Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sydney Rosa took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tiaguinho Goiano. Tiaguinho Goiano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. Tiaguinho Goiano came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Catone's Sydney Rosa. But to his dismay, Sydney Rosa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-7. Edmílson Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Tiaguinho Goiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Catone made a substitution. Eliézer Urbano replaced Sydney Rosa. Raimundo Trevisan charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raimundo Trevisan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Catone booed when Flamengo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raimundo Trevisan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Augusto Bezerra took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tiaguinho Goiano. Tiaguinho Goiano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-8. A collision led to Flamengo getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Osvaldinho Perez hit a great ball. Tiaguinho Goiano didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eliézer Urbano went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-9 was the resulting score. Luciano Magalhães struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Tiaguinho Goiano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Catone. Through an outstanding action, after 92 minutes, Tiaguinho Goiano successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Almir de Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emílio Quintal, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Robinho Souto was shown his second yellow card after 94 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. When the match was over Catone could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Flamengo throughout the match.
