Matheus Aparecido fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerrit Hardering having to interfere. David Marquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Gerrit Hardering tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Cresciuma EC booed when New England Patriots was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardinho Macedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 10th minute Duda Pitta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juninho Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 12 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Gustavo Cordeiro sped through Cresciuma EC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Juninho Cruz. Juninho Cruz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelson da Mata in the 15th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, Gustavo Cordeiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Juninho Cruz. Cresciuma EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gustavo Cordeiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. New England Patriots's Nelson da Mata got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 23rd minute, Gustavo Cordeiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Juninho Cruz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. After a rather tough play, Cresciuma EC's Waldemar Xavier got a free kick in the 31st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nelson da Mata in the 32nd minute of play forced Cresciuma EC's goalkeeper Juninho Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cresciuma EC's Juninho Cruz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustavo Cordeiro in the 33rd minute of play. Gerrit Hardering made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Marquez in the 35th minute of play. In the 38th minute, Duda Pitta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Juninho Cruz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustavo Cordeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ronaldinho das Neves kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. In the 41st minute of the match Cássio Queiroz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Juninho Cruz skillfully saved the ball. Didi Castro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gustavo Cordeiro to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Cordeiro in the 53rd minute of play forced Cresciuma EC's goalkeeper Juninho Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Cresciuma EC's Juninho Cruz got control of the ball when Didi Castro tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 58th minute Gustavo Cordeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juninho Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 59 minutes, Matheus Aparecido mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cresciuma EC and the New England Patriots players grew even worse after the yellow card. Gerrit Hardering showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Faustão Prado, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Nelson da Mata could shoot a difficult shot in the 87th minute, which Juninho Cruz however easily saved by the left post. After 89 played minutes New England Patriots got a freekick which was hit by Eurico Goiano. In the 94th minute, Gustavo Cordeiro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Juninho Cruz. The goal made the score 0-5. When the match was over New England Patriots could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Cresciuma EC throughout the match.
