Severo Dubardo made in the 6th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Outer Banks's Vítor Tepedino. Robbie Southgate took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Perivaldo Cruz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jairo Guimarães kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. In the 20th minute Outer Banks were awarded a corner. Nestor Marinho went to the cornerflag to take it. Outer Banks's Juarês Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dionisio Rik in the 24th minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Perivaldo Cruz notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Independente F.C. Limeira's Robbie Southgate. Robbie Southgate was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Perivaldo Cruz might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Robbie Southgate. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Perivaldo Cruz ran back to his position shaking his head. Robbie Southgate showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Perivaldo Cruz, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Outer Banks's Juarês Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 高坤源 in the 29th minute of play. Robbie Southgate made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edinho Gaúcho in the 31st minute. When Stig Svanberg came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Outer Banks fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stig Svanberg couldn't finish the play. Outer Banks's Juarês Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 高坤源 in the 34th minute of play. Juarês Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Luís do Valle in the 40th minute of play. 高坤源 took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Juarês Monteiro. Juarês Monteiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Independente F.C. Limeira's Aníbal Barral got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and 高坤源 made a kick off. Juarês Monteiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Luís do Valle in the 57th minute. Dionisio Rik received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Juarês Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Perivaldo Cruz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 65 minutes, 高坤源 managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independente F.C. Limeira's supporters crossed their fingers, but 高坤源 was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Robbie Southgate stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edinho Gaúcho's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by 高坤源 in the 74th minute of play forced Outer Banks's goalkeeper Juarês Monteiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Outer Banks booed when Independente F.C. Limeira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aírton Tepedino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Perivaldo Cruz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Robbie Southgate having to make a save. 76 minutes into the match, Independente F.C. Limeira's goal looked a bit too open when Perivaldo Cruz came free, but Robbie Southgate reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Juarês Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dionisio Rik in the 80th minute of the match. In the 81st minute, Tostão Maciel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dionisio Rik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Independente F.C. Limeira's Robbie Southgate played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Perivaldo Cruz in the 96th minute of play. Outer Banks succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Independente F.C. Limeira had controlled the match.
