Spectators: 7696 (Terracing: 5773, Seating: 1770, VIP seats: 153) Meriti FC's Basílio Mesquita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 played minutes Independente FC got a freekick which was hit by Hudson Toscano. When %teams%'s Luiz Marquez was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 1-0 just inside the left pole, 7 minutes into the game. Waldemar de Senna was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. 16 minutes into the game, Luiz Marquez lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Waldemar de Senna. An unexpected shot in the 21st minute by Raí Prestes got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 23rd minute, Independente FC's Luiz Marquez dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. The Independente FC fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when Independente FC's Nilson Duarte looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 32ndth minute of the game Luiz Marquez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Meriti FC's Waldemar de Senna was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nilson Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldemar de Senna having to interfere. Nilson Duarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 37 minutes into the game, Nilson Duarte cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Waldemar de Senna was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 40 minutes into the match, Meriti FC's goalkeeper Waldemar de Senna had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edinho Secco. Independente FC's Hudson Toscano got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nilson Duartes short, quick shot in the 44thth minute got Waldemar de Senna to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 45 minutes into the match, Luiz Marquez dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Waldemar de Senna, 6-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 6-0.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luiz Marquez in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Waldemar de Senna prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nilson Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldemar de Senna having to interfere. After 58th play minutes Luiz Marquez shot 7-0, a short shot which went by Waldemar de Senna and just under the crossbar into goal. After 62 minutes of play, Independente FC's Luiz Marquez made it 8-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Waldemar de Senna was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nilson Duarte took the ball and in the 65 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Waldemar de Senna. Waldemar de Senna dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 9-0. Meriti FC's Waldemar de Senna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raí Prestes in the 68th minute of play. In the 75th minute, Luiz Marquez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Independente FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 12-0. Waldemar de Senna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Marquez in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84thth minute of the game Luiz Marquez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Meriti FC's Waldemar de Senna was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Waldemar de Senna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nilson Duarte, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. After a rather tough play, Meriti FC's Luís Fábio Vides got a free kick in the 86th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Marquez in the 91st minute of play forced Meriti FC's goalkeeper Waldemar de Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 95 played minutes, Independente FC's Joaquim Eanes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Waldemar de Senna came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Independente FC reached it. When the referee ended the match the Independente FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
