Agostinho Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hortêncio Porto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dé Neves came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Nova Descoberta - RN's Rony Félix. But to his dismay, Rony Félix quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Geraldo Cruz took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dé Neves. Dé Neves dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Agostinho Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldão Paraíba, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Magno Pinheiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dé Neves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. After 29 played minutes Meriti FC got a freekick which was hit by Leopoldo Coutinho. A collision led to Meriti FC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Pedro Augusto Vander hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Magno Pinheiro put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Dé Neves. Magno Pinheiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dé Neves having to interfere. If Geraldo Cruz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Meriti FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Nova Descoberta - RN were winning 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pedro Augusto Vander stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Gabriel Tande hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Agostinho Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Duarte Catarinense, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Agostinho Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duarte Catarinense in the 84th minute of the match. Pedro Augusto Vander hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Dé Neves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Magno Pinheiro in the 88th minute. Magno Pinheiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 91 minutes, Magno Pinheiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nova Descoberta - RN's supporters crossed their fingers, but Magno Pinheiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pedro Augusto Vander struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Agostinho Mendonça didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Meriti FC. Nova Descoberta - RN played a much better game than Meriti FC and deserved their victory. The Meriti FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
