An unexpectedly hard shot by Dalmo Trigo in the 77th minute of play forced Pindorama's goalkeeper Luís Fernando Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 78th minute, Bernardo Terra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 88th play minutes Mané Bezerra shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Durvalino Vergílio and just under the crossbar into goal. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Pindorama lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
