Spectators: 7713 (Terracing: 5786, Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 153) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Magno Pinheiro started the match with the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dalmo Trigo in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Agostinho Mendonça saved Nova Descoberta - RN from getting behind. Nova Descoberta - RN's Agostinho Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raí da Cunha in the 16th minute of play. After 19 minutes of play, Nova Descoberta - RN's Geraldo Cruz made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Durvalino Vergílio was left in no man's land by his defense there! A sloppy throw-in by Luciano Trevisan in the 23rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Joinville City's Marcelinho Leme. André Luiz Viana hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Nova Descoberta - RN's Tomé Loureiro got a free kick in the 29th minute. Agostinho Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raí da Cunha in the 31st minute of play. The throw-in from Gonçalo Paraíba in the 33rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Nova Descoberta - RN's Geraldo Cruz. Kiko Lago recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dalmo Trigo might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Agostinho Mendonça. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dalmo Trigo ran back to his position shaking his head. Agostinho Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raí da Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Geraldo Cruz came free with the goalkeeper in the 44th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Durvalino Vergílio could save by the left post. Dalmo Trigo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Dalmo Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dalmo Trigo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Agostinho Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dalmo Trigo, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Gonçalo Paraíba made in the 56th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Dalmo Trigo. After 56 played minutes Joinville City got a freekick which was hit by André Luiz Viana. After 63 played minutes Joinville City got a freekick which was hit by Marcelinho Leme. Gonçalo Paraíba made in the 68th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Nova Descoberta - RN's Tomé Loureiro. With a little luck, Nova Descoberta - RN's Agostinho Mendonça got control of the ball when Marcelinho Leme tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gonçalo Paraíba made in the 71st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Dalmo Trigo. Nova Descoberta - RN's Magno Pinheiro quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Gonçalo Paraíba, made in the 78th minute of the game. Gonçalo Paraíba took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 80th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Agostinho Mendonça. Nova Descoberta - RN's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 86th match minute, Joinville City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Augusto Vasconcelos to maneuver through the defense. When Luciano Trevisan came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Nova Descoberta - RN fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luciano Trevisan couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Nova Descoberta - RN's zone, Raí da Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Agostinho Mendonça came out of the goal and Raí da Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 95th minute, Magno Pinheiro made a precise shot to the right of Durvalino Vergílio. Joinville City's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Nova Descoberta - RN's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
