Tadeu Moraes came out of the goal and Nilson Duarte tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 11th minute, Luiz Marquez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Independente FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 14th minute Luiz Marquez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tadeu Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raí Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Tadeu Moraes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Berger in the 18th minute of play forced Independente FC's goalkeeper Nando Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Marquez in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tadeu Moraes saved SANTOS F.C from getting behind. Gilmar Guerra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 23 minutes, Luiz Marquez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independente FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Marquez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tadeu Moraes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilson Duarte in the 24th minute of the match. 27 minutes into the match, Independente FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelo Moraes came free, but Nando Sena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Moraes in the 27th minute of play forced Independente FC's goalkeeper Nando Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nando Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cipriano Berger in the 32nd minute of play. In the 39th minute, Nilson Duarte ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tadeu Moraes was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. In the 46th minute Luiz Marquez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tadeu Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luiz Marquez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tadeu Moraes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nilson Duarte went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Luiz Marquez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tadeu Moraes was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. In the 59th minute, Hudson Toscano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 62nd minute of the match, Nilson Duarte got a very nice opportunity to score, but Tadeu Moraes was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 63rd minute, Gilmar Guerra got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leandro Baptista's late challenge caught a Independente FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leandro Baptista helped the player get up and apologised. The score was 0-5 after a penalty in the 68th minute, where Independente FC:s Nilson Duarte tricked SANTOS F.C:s Tadeu Moraes with a difficult ball by the left post. Tadeu Moraes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raí Prestes's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. After some careless play in the SANTOS F.C defense, Nilson Duarte kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tadeu Moraes. The SANTOS F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tadeu Moraes should have stopped the shot. Luiz Marquez did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-7 to the left of a surprised Tadeu Moraes 76 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Igor Gaspar in the 80th minute of play forced Independente FC's goalkeeper Nando Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luiz Marquez did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-9 to the left of a surprised Tadeu Moraes 88 minutes into the match. Luiz Eduardo Marinho kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Tadeu Moraes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Marquez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luiz Marquez did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-10 to the left of a surprised Tadeu Moraes 95 minutes into the match. The SANTOS F.C fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Independente FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
