After a defensive mix-up in AC Metropol's zone, Helge Ödman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrick Recife came out of the goal and Helge Ödman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Itália getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Severino Alvarenga hit a great ball. After 9 minutes, Eliseu Nóbrega mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AC Metropol and the Itália players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 9th minute, Eliseu Nóbrega hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Helge Ödman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Patrick Recife tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Patrick Recife made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dagoberto Velasco in the 12th minute of play. The supporters of AC Metropol booed when Itália was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dagoberto Velasco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rodriguinho Motta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hamílton Miranda in the 16th minute of play. Patrick Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Clemencin, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Helge Ödman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Recife having to interfere. After 25 minutes, Hamílton Miranda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AC Metropol and the Itália players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, AC Metropol's Hamílton Miranda got a free kick in the 25th minute. Helge Ödman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. AC Metropol's Patrick Recife played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiaguinho Torres in the 30th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Helge Ödman in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Patrick Recife prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dagoberto Velasco took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Patrick Recife. Patrick Recife dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Patrick Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lothar Matthäus, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 39th match minute, AC Metropol was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseu Nóbrega to maneuver through the defense. In the 44th minute Dagoberto Velasco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Recife saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patrick Recife made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Helge Ödman in the 45th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hamílton Miranda to strike the kick off in the second half. Patrick Recife made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lothar Matthäus in the 53rd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Itália's Dagoberto Velasco slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Patrick Recife. That made the score 0-2 after 56 minutes of play. AC Metropol's Patrick Recife played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yoel Suarez in the 67th minute of play. Rodriguinho Motta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hamílton Miranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 77 played minutes AC Metropol got a freekick which was hit by Otávio Toledo. In the 80th minute Dagoberto Velasco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Recife saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lothar Matthäus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Itália fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3.
