54 minutes in the game, Frederico Lago dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frederico Lago in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Erivaldo Furlan saved Tamboril from getting behind. Edu Cunha hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Vasco Mineiro FC's zone, Cacá Matorin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelo Vidal came out of the goal and Cacá Matorin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Erivaldo Furlan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vinícius Esteves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rubens Torres struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Marcelo Vidal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tamboril. The Tamboril supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Tamboril would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
