When Téo Paes came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Arapapa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Téo Paes couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Cipriano Cordeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esporte Clube Italva's supporters rose to their feet, but Cipriano Cordeiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulo José Queiroz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 20th match minute, Arapapa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kjell-Arne Eckegren to maneuver through the defense. After 21st play minutes Hílton Travassos shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Paulo José Queiroz and just under the crossbar into goal. Cipriano Cordeiro in the 25thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Paulo José Queiroz, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Noel Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jairo Lima received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Hílton do Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Arapapa's goalkeeper Paulo José Queiroz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Esporte Clube Italva's Hílton do Valle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Téo Paes in the 35th minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Arapapa's goalkeeper Paulo José Queiroz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hílton Travassos. In the 46th minute, a hard, long distance shot from Narciso Pereira hit the top of the crossbar and flew over the goal. When Narciso Pereira fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Esporte Clube Italva's protests and gave Narciso Pereira a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Arapapa booed when Esporte Clube Italva was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Narciso Pereira didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hílton Travassos to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Hílton Travassos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo José Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Esporte Clube Italva's Erivaldo Teixeira pulled a muscle in his leg after 62 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 62 minutes into the game, Noel Miranda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Arapapa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esporte Clube Italva the free kick. Esporte Clube Italva's Betinho Baptista was substituted for Erivaldo Teixeira. Noel Miranda kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Arapapa's Paulo José Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hílton Travassos in the 66th minute of play. After 70 minutes, Jairo Lima made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Esporte Clube Italva's Hílton do Valle tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 74th play minute Jairo Lima came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Hílton do Valle. 1-2. Paulo José Queiroz came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Esporte Clube Italva's Narciso Pereira. But to his dismay, Narciso Pereira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Arapapa's Paulo José Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cipriano Cordeiro in the 83rd minute of play. In the 87th minute Hílton Travassos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo José Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Téo Paes kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. With his leg Hílton do Valle managed to avoid a goal in the 95thth minute, when Arapapa's Jairo Lima fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Noel Miranda scored 2-3 in the 96th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hílton do Valle, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Arapapa players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
