GRÊMIO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abel Pirani was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 6 minutes into the match, Tamboril's goal looked a bit too open when 史挺南 came free, but Erivaldo Furlan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Emil Zaremba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tamboril's Erivaldo Furlan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 史挺南 in the 11th minute of play. Erivaldo Furlan made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Luiz Gustavo Mazza sent off a good shot on target. In the 18th minute, Luiz Gustavo Mazza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GRÊMIO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Sergio Goicoechea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cacá Matorin, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Cacá Matorin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sergio Goicoechea having to interfere. Cacá Matorin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Silvério Pinheiro charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Silvério Pinheiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Silvério Pinheiro hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emil Zaremba was the one to do the kick off. Tamboril's Erivaldo Furlan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silvério Pinheiro in the 53rd minute of play. 65 minutes into the match, Tamboril's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Gustavo Mazza came free, but Erivaldo Furlan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tamboril made a substitution. Franklin Salgado replaced Cacá Matorin. Erivaldo Furlan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 史挺南's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. A hard shot 76 in the game by Vânderson Peixoto from a close distance when the talented Sergio Goicoechea managed to make a qualified save. GRÊMIO's players were relieved. Erivaldo Furlan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abel Pirani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 83 minutes into the match, GRÊMIO's goal looked a bit too open when Franklin Salgado came free, but Sergio Goicoechea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84th minute Tamboril were awarded a corner. Emil Zaremba went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 92nd minute of the game, Abel Pirani landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. GRÊMIO's Geovani Teles was substituted for Abel Pirani. Luan Tasso kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. In the 95th minute, Glauco Leão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. GRÊMIO's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
