After a defensive mix-up in Gruna's zone, Reinaldo de Alcântara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Natanael Luz came out of the goal and Reinaldo de Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 26 minutes into the game, Mundial EC's Tomás Senna nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Natanael Luz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Germano Moraes made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Fodil Souakri sent off a good shot on target. Natanael Luz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinaldo de Alcântara in the 37th minute of play. Reinaldo de Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Germano Moraes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Félix, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Natanael Luz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomás Senna in the 43rd minute of the match. When the match clock showed 48 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Tomás Senna sped through Gruna's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Natanael Luz. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Cristian Félix recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 61 minutes Mundial EC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Percy Monteiro who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Gruna's Percy Monteiro to fire away a dangerous shot which Germano Moraes despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 63rd minute Agnaldo Sena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Germano Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 65 minutes into the match, Mundial EC's Reinaldo de Alcântara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Natanael Luz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 67th minute, Álvaro Eger ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Germano Moraes was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomás Senna in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Natanael Luz saved Gruna from getting behind. The supporters of Gruna booed when Mundial EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egídio França didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tomás Senna had several of the Gruna's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 75 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-3 score and a disappointed Natanael Luz as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 79th minute, Reinaldo de Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 81 minutes into the game, Agnaldo Sena was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gruna's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mundial EC the free kick. Agnaldo Sena kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Natanael Luz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Reinaldo de Alcântara went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Reinaldo de Alcântara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Natanael Luz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Gruna getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Agnaldo Sena hit a great ball. Tomás Senna struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Natanael Luz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mundial EC. In the 94th minute of the match Percy Monteiro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Germano Moraes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fodil Souakri in the 96th minute of play forced Mundial EC's goalkeeper Germano Moraes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
