Laluce Esporte Clube's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Erik Sanches ran over to the corner to take the kick. After having played for 37 minutes, Carlos Alberto Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catugi FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Alberto Soares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Reko Nybacka showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Jacinto in the 38th minute of the match. When Gabriel Sergipano fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Laluce Esporte Clube's protests and gave Gabriel Sergipano a yellow card for diving instead. Chants of Laluce Esporte Clube echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Catugi FC had held the ball for most of the match.
