Caxinha F. C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Geovânio Proença was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. EC São José were awarded a corner in the 17th minute after Caxinha F. C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luiz Fernando Goiano took the corner. After taking down the ball on EC São José's corner Luiz Fernando Goiano fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Silvério Andrade quite easily take care of the ball. Mike Maignan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Geovânio Proença in the 18th minute. In the 20th minute Caxinha F. C. were awarded a corner. Su Yao Xiang went to the cornerflag to take it. Caxinha F. C.'s Silvério Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandre Souto in the 23rd minute of play. Alexandre Souto scored 0-3 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Silvério Andrade, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mike Maignan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matías Tepedino in the 26th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Glauco Carneiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Silvério Andrade was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. EC São José were awarded a corner in the 34th minute after Caxinha F. C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luiz Fernando Goiano took the corner. Luiz Fernando Goiano made a great header on EC São José's corner, it was just that Caxinha F. C.'s Silvério Andrade managed to reach the ball for a save. Silvério Andrade came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by EC São José's Glauco Carneiro. But to his dismay, Glauco Carneiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Glauco Carneiro to strike the kick off in the second half. Matías Tepedino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mike Maignan having to make a save. In the 57th minute, Well-Well Puč hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luiz Fernando Goiano struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Silvério Andrade didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for EC São José. Mike Maignan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geovânio Proença in the 63rd minute of play. Mike Maignan came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Caxinha F. C.'s Geovânio Proença. But to his dismay, Geovânio Proença quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovânio Proença in the 67th minute of play forced EC São José's goalkeeper Mike Maignan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Caxinha F. C.'s Silvério Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandre Souto in the 71st minute of play. Mike Maignan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geovânio Proença in the 74th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovânio Proença in the 77th minute of play forced EC São José's goalkeeper Mike Maignan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Geovânio Proença had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. C. booed when EC São José was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorival Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 92nd minute Geovânio Proença shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike Maignan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. EC São José walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
