The crowd rose to their feet as Grêmio 20 Julho's Qiu Zhen Guang slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Vito Couto. That made the score 2-0 after 15 minutes of play. After 17 played minutes Jenny FC got a freekick which was hit by Ulysses Tande. Gilmar Romero might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vito Couto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gilmar Romero ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gilmar Romero got free with Vito Couto in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 24 minutes into the match, Grêmio 20 Julho's goal looked a bit too open when Eurico Vasconcelos came free, but Eugenio Asier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vito Couto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gilmar Romero in the 26th minute. Grêmio 20 Julho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilmar Romero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eugenio Asier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgílio Paiva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The wind increased when Victorio Lasaca made the kick off in the second half. Grêmio 20 Julho's Eugenio Asier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Grêmio 20 Julho from getting a goal against them. 53 minutes into the match, Jenny FC's goal looked a bit too open when Téo Pires came free, but Vito Couto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sture Blomkvist's late challenge caught a Grêmio 20 Julho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sture Blomkvist helped the player get up and apologised. In the 92nd minute, Sture Blomkvist hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kléber Borges charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kléber Borges the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Jenny FC booed when Grêmio 20 Julho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kléber Borges didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Wasyl Arbaszewski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jenny FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
