Aírton Bueno made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. After 5 played minutes Guadiana got a freekick which was hit by Lenílson Cardoso. Aírton Bueno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Luiz da Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 11th minute, Sílvio Luiz da Costa fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Aírton Bueno, passed just outside the right post. Guadiana's Aírton Bueno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Noureddine Seret in the 12th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Torino SSA's Noureddine Seret got a free kick in the 13th minute. Otávio Mesquita's late challenge caught a Torino SSA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Otávio Mesquita helped the player get up and apologised. Torino SSA made a substitution. Ricardo Leite replaced Noureddine Seret. After a rather tough play, Guadiana's Otávio Mesquita got a free kick in the 19th minute. 19 minutes into the game, Ricardo Leite cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Aírton Bueno was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Aírton Bueno was a little too slow when Toninho da Fonseca got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 22nd minute. The score was now 3-0. After some careless play in the Guadiana defense, Ricardo Leite kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aírton Bueno. The Guadiana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aírton Bueno should have stopped the shot. Sílvio Luiz da Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aírton Bueno came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Torino SSA's Ricardo Leite. But to his dismay, Ricardo Leite quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Ricardo Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 36th match minute, Torino SSA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jerônimo Guerra to maneuver through the defense. Aírton Bueno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sílvio Luiz da Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sílvio Luiz da Costa in the 42nd minute of play forced Guadiana's goalkeeper Aírton Bueno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Guadiana defense, Ricardo Leite kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aírton Bueno. The Guadiana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aírton Bueno should have stopped the shot.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sílvio Luiz da Costa was the one to do the kick off. When Ricardo Leite came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Torino SSA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Leite couldn't finish the play. Aírton Bueno was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Torino SSA's José Romero was substituted for Toninho da Fonseca. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Sílvio Luiz da Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Torino SSA's supporters rose to their feet, but Sílvio Luiz da Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aírton Bueno breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Torino SSA made a substitution. Egídio de Almeida replaced Víktor Guerra. 86 minutes into the match, Torino SSA's Ricardo Leite sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aírton Bueno narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 92nd minute of the game. One of Guadiana:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Torino SSA:s goal. Ricardo Leite received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Aírton Bueno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Torino SSA fully deserved thier win.
