The supporters of Legion of Boom booed when Flamengo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joãozinho Sexto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Faustão Romero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giovanni Alagoano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Legion of Boom's goalkeeper Abdi Ufki, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 23 minutes, Francisco Macedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Flamengo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Macedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Giovanni Alagoano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustão Romero having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Legion of Boom's Rony Teixeira got a free kick in the 29th minute. Vítor da Silva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Abdi Ufki tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mazinho Koehler struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Faustão Romero didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Legion of Boom. Legion of Boom's Abdi Ufki proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Legion of Boom from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice moves Francisco Macedo could shoot a difficult shot in the 41st minute, which Abdi Ufki however easily saved by the left post. Francisco Macedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abdi Ufki having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Legion of Boom's zone, Vicente Silva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abdi Ufki came out of the goal and Vicente Silva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paulino Sacristán stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Legion of Boom's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Macedo came free, but Abdi Ufki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulino Sacristán in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Abdi Ufki prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Abdi Ufki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulino Sacristán, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Mazinho Koehler's late challenge caught a Flamengo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mazinho Koehler helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Legion of Boom's Mazinho Koehler got a free kick in the 59th minute. Abdi Ufki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Fantini, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 61st minute Paulino Sacristán shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abdi Ufki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vicente Silva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Legion of Boom's Abdi Ufki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulino Sacristán in the 68th minute of play. Faustão Romero made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Giovanni Alagoano sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Legion of Boom getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. João Paulo Moreira hit a great ball. Abdi Ufki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisco Macedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. In the 81st minute of the match Flamengo FC got a corner. Legion of Boom's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Flamengo FC had won after a very even match.
