PERNA DE PAU SC's Geovanni Arruda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serafim Severo in the 52nd minute of play. A hard shot 53 in the game by Vágner Pernambucano from a close distance when the talented Cléber de Queirós managed to make a qualified save. Velez do Jockey FC's players were relieved. 56 minutes into the match, PERNA DE PAU SC's John Ponta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cléber de Queirós narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers John Ponta in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cléber de Queirós saved Velez do Jockey FC from getting behind. Velez do Jockey FC's Cléber de Queirós proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Velez do Jockey FC from getting a goal against them. Rodrigo Freitas's late challenge caught a PERNA DE PAU SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rodrigo Freitas helped the player get up and apologised. In the 62nd match minute, Velez do Jockey FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodrigo Freitas to maneuver through the defense. In the 90th minute, Vágner Pernambucano reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cléber de Queirós. The goal made the score 1-5. A collision led to Velez do Jockey FC getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Rubinho Sampaio hit a great ball. After 96 played minutes Velez do Jockey FC got a freekick which was hit by Rubinho Sampaio. John Ponta, 97 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The Velez do Jockey FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. PERNA DE PAU SC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
